French Domaine de La Ronciere Cotes du Rhone Wine 750ml ABV 14.5%

About the Vineyard:

“The Lavau family and their love of wine, their passion for the terroir and the land began in Saint-Émilion in the 19th century. History then continued to be written in Tunisia where René Lavau and his son transformed a small estate of vines and orange trees into a flourishing business that became the country’s largest wine producer. Back in France in the 1960s, Jean-Guy Lavau, René’s grandson, and his wife Anne-Marie took over a small winemaking cellar in Sablet in the heart of the Rhône Valley and thus created the LAVAU house in 1965. Some 30 years later, Frédéric and Benoît Lavau joined the family house which then became a qualitative, recognized and respected winemaker in the Rhône Valley. They perpetuate their activity of winemaker and enrich their know-how by becoming creator of cuvées and producer. They acquired several estates in the Rasteau, Valréas and Côtes du Rhône appellations and joined forces with Château Maucoil in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.”

About the Wine:

Managed using sustainable farming methods since 2012, the Cotes du Rhone vineyards are located in Vaucluse, where the Mediterranean climate means hot summers and mild winters. The Mistral winds are a major feature of climate in the Vaucluse, as it is all up and down the Rhône Valley corridor. The cool wind from the northeast blows fiercely here, with speeds exceeding 100 km/h and are a key factor in the health and quality of the vines and grapes of this unique region. Their cooling and drying effect discourages viruses and damp after a rainfall which helps to prevent fungal diseases.

 Blend of 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah & 5% Mourvedre
